Church of Saint Catherine of Alexandria - PISA Where: Piazza Santa Caterina City: Pisa Tel 050-552883 The church contains outstanding works of art, although the altarpiece by Simone Martini is currently in the Museo Nazionale di San Matteo. Of the bill are very notable: the tomb of Simon Bishop Saltarelli made by Nino Pisano, the altarpiece by Francesco Traini, entitled "The Glory of St. Thomas Aquinas", an old chair from which the saint appears to have held a number of sermons and lessons and Tomb of Blessed Brother Jordan Rivalto. Saint Catherine of Alexandria in Egypt was a young girl who faced martyrdom at the time of the persecution of Maxentius, in the early fourth century.
